How I Came to Love Construction

Four Things A Contractor Will Need To Know To Create A Custom Tree Stand

by Wade Black

Having a sturdy deer stand is important when hunting. Many of the deer stands that are on the market have a maximum weight limit that they can hold. If you are a larger man or woman, the weight may be too low to support your weight or too low for you to be able to fit someone else in the tree stand with you. If you want a safe and sturdy deer stand that you can use with confidence, consider having one made for you. The following guide walks you through a few things to take into consideration when having a deer stand created.

Consider the Location

The first thing you need to do is to consider where you want the tree stand to be located. You want to be sure that you have it built in an area that have a lot of deer activity. Near a stream or creek is often ideal because deer will need to come to them when they are thirsty.

Consider the Height

Next, you need to consider how high you want the tree stand to be. You need to be sure that the stand is built at a height that allows you to see the deer clearly, without being so close to the ground that they can hear you breathing. Likewise, you do not want the stand to be too high because it may be difficult to get a clear shot with an arrow or shotgun.

Consider the Weight Load

Be honest with the contractor when he or she is designing the tree stand. You need to tell the contractor how much weight you want the tree stand to be able to hold when it is finished. Consider your weight and the weight of any other person that you want to go hunting with you in the stand. There are things that can be done to make the tree stand very strong and able to hold a lot of weight, if the contractor knows that it is needed.

Consider the Size

You need to consider how large or small you want the stand to be. If you want to have one or two other people in the stand with you, it needs to be large enough for you to all be able to sit comfortably and be able to operate any weapon you all choose to use.

Once you have considered all of these factors, hire a contractor to create the one-of-a-kind deer stand for you. He or she will be able to use the information that you have given them to create the perfect stand to suit your specific needs.
